Monday was Judy's birthday and there were surprises in store for all, courtesy of Ellen and especially Barbara, Judy's cousin, who flew in from Philadelphia just for the day and made most of this possible.
"Miss Liberty" made an appearance to help in the celebration. You may recall that last year Liberty came to see Shelly on her birthday. The folks at Liberty Tax have been very supportive and we thank them.

Ellen and Barbara prepare birthday surprise for Judy.
Then "The Main Event" came - the beauticians who were going to give manicures and pedicures and foot rubs to everyone.

DEAR ALL - I'm trying to beat Harvey to the blog but, of course, there is no way. Yesterday, I had the honor, the joy, the blessing of a long postponed visit to Shelly which coincided with Judy's birthday. Harvey will surely describe and illustrate but here is a short version from my perspective. Ellen and I conspired to make it a day of surprises,"nothing tangible" was allowed ("Butterscotch Krimpets" don't count). Ellen was the grand impresario and it was, indeed, a day of intimacy, bonding, humor and tears and some" firsts (like Harvey's manicure!). Shelly was beautiful with her luminous skin and new, glowing reddish hair color. Her black humor was present. Ellen, our model of creativity and Judy Harvey exemplars of tenderness, strength and guidance. I don't know if there is such a thing as "getting it all right" but you - dear Shelly, Ellen ,Judy, Harvey (and Debby) seem to be getting as close as one can get. I'm humbled to share in your lives. As I said when I left - "I'll be back" and look forward to the next trip - very soon.
With much love - Barbara
Today's postings, from Barbara and from Harvey, have me in tears. I wish I had been there to share in all of this but appreciate very much that you both gave such wonderful descriptions so I can imagine what the day was like. Shelly, you are a dream for all of us - bringing us closer in ways that we would never have imagined. Your additional gift to us. I really want to try to get back there soon for whatever surprise we can come up with next - or just for another sweet visit. Much love, Alice (p.s. - Harvey - how do your nails look?)
Can't believe I missed pedicure day! OMG Actually, can't believe I missed Harvey having a manicure--that one ups the news from Haiti--it is a really big news day at the Waxmans of Wright Lane. Judy I'm so glad your special birthday was full of great surprises and well deserved treats. With Ellen in the concierge position one just can't imagine what a day might hold. Keep up the good work and everybody keep smiling. The pictures were a joy to behold.
With love and hugs to all,
Sally
Hi guys, You know we are out of town...well, I sent a comment, you know me I always have something to say, but my comments were not accepted for some reason. As Sally said, we loved the pictures, but I cannot get any sound out of this equipment so could not hear the video portion so we will have to wait till we get home to get that part...I think one of the things I said, was....Boy....you guys sre NAILED it for Judy's Birthday. An Harvey, getting a manicure...well what a nerve you had making fun of my Israeli nail magic cube...Oh well, the noogie man struck again...Shelly the photos of you were great, and you sure looked as if you were having fun, Now that is what I like to see...Had a nice visit with Arnold and Ro...had dinner together and they came here to see where we were staying. Tomorrow We will go visit a cousin of Sally's in Miami...On our wat back I plan to visit dad's grave which is in Hollywood. I will bring a golf ball and a tee and push into the ground for him,,,,just in case......Love you all Ernie
What a great day!! Ellen has an endless supply of creative things to do everyday - she has supplied the whole family with smiles on their faces and appreciation in their hearts.

This is just a little Monday morning hello. I was visiting friends in Woodstock NY over the weekend and wonder how the weekend was at the Waxman's. How are you doing Shelly? I hope it was a peaceful and quiet weekend - or peaceful and not quiet. Either would be good. Talk soon. Love, Alice
