Just got back from Shelly's CAT scan appointment. Dr. B had a huge thumbs up. The tumor has not progressed and if he were pushed he thinks it might actually be slightly smaller.
Yesterday she even volunteered that she was feeling a bit better and that made everyone glad.
After hearing the options, Shelly has decided that she'll begin a new drug combo instead of the one that has so many bad side effects. It seems to be as effective as the original drug and since she has done so well controlling the tumor the consensus is to make the substitution.
She will get her first dose in two weeks meaning that since her last chemo she will have had five weeks without chemo. A well earned vacation I'd say.
Things really do look pretty good and as Dr. B said, it's everything he could have hoped for. Ultimately the tumor could even completely disappear .
PS. The birds have flown away and the boat is going in next week.

Dear dear Shelly, I'm typing from the hotel computer with a key-board that doesn't match ours - one finger at a time. I leave for home tomorrow morning - about to go out for my last evening walk in Paris - last for this visit I mean. And I will get on the plane tomorrow morning with a song in my heart thanks to the very good news I just read. As Unk E. said so well - going going gone. And I am so glad you are feeling a little bit better. Much love as always. Alice

Dear Shelly (and everyone related to me in Rhode Island and elsewhere), Just because Shelly is feeling well (which I assume is the case since not one word has been written to the contrary for a week now :)) and just because she is having this hopefully good extended vacation from chemo, etc. - that is no excuse for not saying hi and sending my never-ending love! So-- HI and lots of love to all the Waxmans! Alice
Alice, you're so sweet...thank you very much.
Love you, Shelly
