OK, here's the deal. The PET scan shows that there are no new tumors and the original tumor shows no increase in size. It's as good a report as the doctor could have expected. I asked if the slight activity shown in the location of the tumor was activity of the tumor itself or of the body's defensive white cells since both would show an increase in sugar uptake (the PET scan). The answer is that there is no way to tell the difference so we could actually be seeing Shelly's immune system (the fish) actively keeping the tumor under control. The consensus is that the tumor is static.
One more thing to note is that he has never had a patient feeling this well after four rounds of chemo. Shelly is actually getting stronger with each dose. Very encouraging and really good news.
Thanks to everyone.
