I hate to take your time by saying that not much is going on but. . . not much is going on. Shelly feels quite good and has agreed that, under the circumstances, she should participate in the local NORP - neighborhood organic revitalization project (she'll take the dogs out for their 'deposits').
Her 'bad' days appear to be getting less and less bad and fewer in number. In fact Shelly has become a real social butterfly, meeting friends for dinner, breakfast with the 'girls' (they like when I call them that :-) and doing art/craft projects during the days.
Still, the PET scan on Tuesday will be a very difficult procedure to anticipate. It's pretty tough to go through too. You are injected with a radioactive tracer and have to lie completely still for up to an hour. And when I say still I mean still - you can't talk, move a limb to scratch yourself, listen to music (you might move a toe to keep time to music) etc. STILL.
Then the PET scan itself which is like a CAT scan. The PET scan however can reveal greater than normal activity as the most active cells take up more of the tracer, which can be an indication of cancer. The active cells are brightest on the film.
This is where the rubber meets the road and will give a much more accurate picture of the effectiveness of her treatment to date.
Fingers crossed.
Until later.

The silence on the blog was actually getting unnerving. I didn't know exactly how to interpret it. I like to think that no news is good news but I also assumed that after the chemo this past week, that Shelly would be having some rough days. I'm glad that NORP has a new member - and I am glad that the butterflies are flying.
As for Tuesday, it sounds very hard. But hopefully since we are all hoping for the same thing, we will overwhelm whatever other forces are at work. Much love to you Shelly - and everyone. Alice (I'm the one reading term papers... ugh)
