It's been a long two days.

Shelly's CT scan on Friday wasn't so good. Yesterday we found out that although there were no new lesions, two cancerous lymph nodes have grown noticeably larger. Not good. It means that the meds she is on aren't working any more so she has been taken off them and isn't in the study any longer.

Today we returned and had a visit with a radiologist/oncologist to see if she is a candidate for radiation. The lesions are right against her esophagus and this isn't good. But he felt that they can get significant shrinkage by radiating them, as long as her PET scan scheduled for tomorrow shows no new tumor activity. The PET is much more sensitive than a regular CT for this.

So if everything is good we can look forward to five days a week for seven weeks of driving into MGH and back for a half hour radiation dose. A small price to pay, and is justice for the 40 years I commuted just a mile to work.

So that's the news so far. We'll keep fingers crossed.

Hi everyone, I spoke with Judy the other day and knew that you were getting the most recent CAT scan results on Wed. so Ive been watching the blog for news. Oh my. This is certainly not what we wanted to hear. I won't pretend that I'm not upset for you and with you Shelly. I'm sure you feel worried and scared. Anyone would. BUT you have surprised everyone for the past two years and I am going to continue to be positive and think that you will continue to surprise the doctors and yourself - and everyone who loves you.

I am sending, as always, the most I can in the way of love, energy, hugs, and positive thinking. I can't write you a song but I can tell you that I love you!!
