So, What's New?

As we slid toward the end of last week approaching the next chemo session Shelly was revisited by some seizures. On
Thursday night she had one nearly every hour, about six by the time morning rolled around. Pretty scary stuff, out of left field they came.

Her neurologist put her on an additional medication and she's been feeling pretty good ever since - no repeat seizures.

Today was supposed to be a chemo day but her blood count was too low. It will have to wait until next week. She does feel pretty good though so it won't be too hard to take the extra week.

We'll set up a cat scan again to see how those lymph nodes are doing - the ones that popped up a few weeks back.

So there we are, up to date.

Ready for Spring!

Hi Shelly and everyone, Barbara got back from her safari (!) yesterday morning and when she called she immediately asked how you were doing. Since I usually read the blog in the morning, and nothing new was posted yesterday morning, I said that you were between chemos and doing pretty well. Good news, we agreed. And now I read this. Oh Shelly - what a challenge you are dealing with - ever courageous but I am sure it feels pretty scary when things come upon you without warning. Sounds absolutely lousy and I wish I could give you a hug - not sure that would help much. But the fact that you are feeling "pretty good" is GOOD. I hope you feel good all week long.
I am running away to visit my friends in Florida for Mother's Day weekend since my claim to being a mother is in San Francisco and I'll get sad if I stay home alone! (This wasn't a weekend that was good for a trip to SF so I'm going for my birthday instead.) I'm hoping to figure out a good time to get to Wickford too - soon I hope. I'm busy grading papers and giving exams - semester grades are due May 18th. After that I can breathe.
I am sending (as usual) love and positive thoughts. Love, Alice

Dearest Shelly, Sorry about your seizure episode, I had that with Sally last year when here Blood pressure shot up over 220 and she was so out of it that she still does not remember that Jeff flew in to see her while she was hospitalized....Thankfully your seizures were not as serious...You are sure a trooper and are doing a yeoman's job fighting this whole ordeal and ultimately will emerge having won, and kicked this whole mess in the puss and shout nah..nah,nah,nnnnn,nah nah!!!!!!!!or however that should be spelled..You are the best honey and we are all pulling for you Love Unk E

Dear sweet shelly - we got home from the "bush" yesterday and I checked to catch up on what has been happening and had a report from Alice. Everytime I hear of more suffering for you I want to jump on a plane and visit and give you more hugs than you want. You courage and endlessly sweet voice makes me tell everyone who complains of a splinter, a broken finger nail, a cold to forget themselves for awhile and tell them about your as a source of inspiration for all of us. I hope at least that this week of no chemo will continue as a good week and give you strength to endure the next round. And, if the sun comes out that will help too.

When we spoke just before we left I promised to call upon return. Once I catch up just a little I'll call.

I hope the new frames are arriving!

Much love dear Shelly.

Barbara
