Well, it's been a couple of days since the last post and Shelly continues to feel pretty good. She and Judy and our friend, Ruth went out for breakfast. Her taste buds are off and the food didn't taste good but she knows that nutrition is important.

Yesterday her cousin Alissa came down for the afternoon and they had a terrific time talking and taste testing jelly beans; for that, her taste buds seemed to be just fine but couldn't find any broccoli ones.

Shelly has been able to get two decent night's sleep for the first time in several weeks. She was resistant to taking medication for the side effects but I think she understands now that she must in order to maintain her energy. Going forward, the chemo accumulates and the side effects become worse but she has chosen not to let this deter her.

I always like reading good news but I must admit waking up to the image of bright green broccoli was not my favorite thing - and I like broccoli! (Anything to distinguish myself from George W.) I think the fish extract is punishment enough and Shelly should stick to pancakes with maple syrup and jelly beans. Happy weekend to all and to all, lots of good nights of sleep. Love, Alice

I am with Alice on the boccoli! Now jelly beans that's a different story, can eat them anytime.
Shelly, sorry about the side effects of the chemo, you are a really good sport about all this but it must be very difficult on you.
We are all so up about your good report that we forget that you are still going through misery with the chemo.
Talked to your mom about having a get together with everyone but mom doesn't feel it's a good idea at this time with your resistance low to germs. We don't want you catching anything from all of us, so we are going to postpone until your immune system will be stronger. LOL, Pam

Dear Shelly So glad you got some good nights sleep. Next time take a scoop of vanilla ice cream and put the jelly beans on top and then cover with hot fudge. I find the jelly beans much easier to take that way.I also find my =self at 242lbs because of it. Love oy honey keep up the progress ,one step at a time...THE KY UNCLE

My dear cousin Shelly,

Oh how happy I am to hear the news. I haven't been on the computer in days and Mom and Dad asked if I read the post from the other day. I told them I haven't had a chance to get on the computer. Just updated myself today and this is wonderful news. I truly believe that the prayers are working. Ok, so maybe it's the chemo too, but I believe it is mostly your strength and the prayers. I am glad to hear that you've had some good nights rest lately. That is always a good thing. Shelly keep on trudgin' (that means to walk with purpose) I love you very much and you continue to be in my prayers, unlike my Dad I don't pray for him to win the lottery, that's a long shot. Love you bunches.

your little cousin,

Jill

Hi Shelly...
Been checking up on you from day one. Always thinking of you. Tell your uncle Ernie that his recipe for jelly beans was pretty good, just forgot one ingrediant - Whipped cream! Oh well, we all can't be perfect!

Love, your California Cousins
