Shelly had her CAT scan followed by a visit with Dr. B. The tumor, if there is any change, is smaller. Dr. B. is "happy".
Headaches are under control, so now she has to wean off the Decadron which has controlled the headaches but leaves her less than chipper. She'll find the right dose using her symptoms as a guide over time.
The decision as of now is to keep going with the chemo since it is producing noticeable benefits; the tumor is shrinking. Of course, we secretly think it's the 'fish' that is responsible to a major degree for her wonderful response.
Dr. B. mentioned that when the tumor board discusses her case they are puzzled by her response. He admitted that he didn't expect her to be here ten months after he first diagnosed the recurrence. This is uncharted territory. Good!
Best to all.

Hi hi dear Waxmans. Given the lack of news, I take it there is only a continuation of good news. Sounds good to me! Shelly, I hope you are feeling stronger than you were and managing the latest round of treatment. Harvey, I am glad you got rid of the black background on the blog. Much more cheerful this way. (I still liked the blue the best. :))
Love to everyone, Alice
Hi Alice,
The lack of news reflects that there are no real changes to report. Shelly has minimal headaches but the effects of the Decadron and the chemo are still pretty awful and she feels pretty miserable.
We took Shelly and Ellen to dinner last night and had an excellent meal in an old restaurant with lots of tradition - the White Horse Tavern in Newport.
She was a trooper but didn't fully enjoy herself. Maybe soon.
Thanks for the update Harvey. Shelly dear, I am sending you hugs (no lemon squares, alas) and as many positive thoughts as I can. I hope there are some good days mixed in with the difficult ones. What a brave soul you are! Love, Alice
This is a blog-only related message for the blog master. NICE COLORS HARVEY! Love to everyone, Alice
