Shelly has a lot of pain on her left side (the cancer side). She has trouble breathing and has a temperature as well. She was supposed to start taking her pre chemo meds but is concerned about her symptoms. We have an appointment with her oncologist at noon to see just what's going on.

To complicate matters, this is the day that the mover is taking her stuff to a storage place. Judy, with the help of a wonderful friend, is taking on that chore and I will be with Shelly at her appointment.

I never liked roller coasters.

Till later.

OK, It's later

What a day. Shelly's chemo is postponed until Monday. It appears that she has caught a little virus which is causing the fever. Her lungs sounded normal and a quick x-ray showed nothing and a new blood study looked fine. We also found out that not only did the brain MRI show no new lesions, the old ones have begun shrinking. All good news. The chest pain is most likely from overdoing carrying stuff down 3 flights of stairs when we packed up her apartment a few days ago.

So the decision was made to fill Shelly with chicken soup and rest until Monday when she will be able to take up where she left off with the chemo.

It was a long day for us all and when we got home we were greeted with an amazing site. Someone had done some serious gardening, planting daffodils everywhere. What a beautiful, cheerful, thoughtful gift. I didn't find out who the gremlins were until just now. Ellen and our friend and neighbor Fran who, when Ellen called to get some advice, offered to help her plant them. And plant they did. Look here

Such goodness.

I was going to write tonight to wish you well tomorrow Shelly. I haven't been at the computer all day. So I just read - happily all at once - both parts of today's sage - the not so good news and the very good news. You must have felt terrified this morning. Oh my. What a traumatic day it sounds like. But daffodils are good!! I hope you all sleep well and that the chicken soup does what it is supposed to do. Lots of love, Alice

Shelly, Heavy sigh. This most recent news that the pain in your side was nothing more than the result of something THAT YOU WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE DOING! was very welcome at our house. As Lore and I drove by the house yesterday, we admired the daffodils and gave all the credit to your Dad. Well, WE TAKE IT ALL BACK HARVEY! and give a great big WAYTOGO to Ellen and friend. The flowers really do make the yard look nice and I'm sure they put a smile on your face. I'm also sure that things must look a little ROSIER this morning. Weelll, I couldn't say a little DAFFODILLIER, now could I?!?! We're always thinking of you and we love the way you're hanging tough. Lore & Hutch
